falling

such beauty in the dying

sunlight starved
stem slowly closing to display glory
red, yellow, orange

colors revealed by deprivation

the longer and cooler the night
the greater the brilliance

death calls forth design
fire flames from within
proclaiming, shouting His upside down kingdom

where one dies to live

brilliance, release, soaring, rest, peace

Yes. "His upside down kingdom." Every word here filled with the pain and mystery and glory of it all. Thank you, thank you for seeing it, for knowing it, for writing it.

ditto Emily, I loved that line. How are you feeling these days? my weeks have been half and half.

i'm not sure i have the words to express how much i like this piece. sometimes i forget that we live upside down, that the dying, the cold, the darkness brings forth such brillance, such glory. may i remember during my cold dark times. thank you!

Someone shared a word of encouragement last week in our church regarding death bringing forth beauty – and with an allusion to the leaves dying…in order to bring forth such splendor!

we must die for such stunning beauty in Christ to grow.
