Thirty Days of Thanks: Day 7~Bread & Wine

Photobucket
My favorite place in the world is beside a fire.
And my second favorite place is around our dining room table with my people. Last night we celebrated Jeff’s birthday, and almost all of us were there.

We sat around our table, eating his favorite meal, enjoying bread and wine, and drinking in the richness of family and the blessings of the Lord.

The thought occurred to me today that these are the same people we live with day in and out. The richness we enjoyed around our table last night as we shared our food, our time, and our hearts . . that same life is surrounding us daily.

We just took time to sit and soak it in, and it nourished our souls like nothing else does!

These are some of the same people that had me in tears the day before. So here’s the lesson. Perspective. It’s all in the way I’m looking at my life and those who surround it.
Am I focused on what’s lacking, the problems, and the ways they don’t live up to my expectations?
Or am I focused on the gift they are, how they enrich my days, and giving thanks for all their goodness and beauty?
This giving thanks thing, it is powerful! It literally changes our perspective and causes us to see the beauty our negative attitudes can cause us to miss. And as we see the beauty in the blessings, it reveals to us the love of our God.
And that’s the real gift!
Giving thanks for . . .
