Be Brave

It’s Five Minute Friday. And these are the rules . .
Write for 5 minutes flat – no editing, no over thinking, no backtracking. Then hit publish (it’s not for the faint of heart)!
Today’s word is BRAVE
Ready, set, GO . .

The times I thought I’d need it have come.

And gone.
And while I’m sure they’ll come again, it’s surprised me that I need it here.
The calendar of life events has never, EVER been as full as it is today.
In just two weeks, the week long celebration of our oldest’s graduation from the Naval Academy begins.
We’ll come home for a few days and then pack up for a trek halfway across the country to the wedding of our second son in South Dakota.
Headed home we will put the final plans together on my one and only daughter’s wedding scheduled for 4 weeks later.
Throw into this mix a whole lot of celebrating with showers, lunches, balls, relatives and the rest of life with a family of eight, and I’m going to need it in droves . . .
Bravery.
My head LITERALLY spins with the kajillion details, and if I’m not careful my brow furrows, my shoulders tighten, and my pulse races.
THIS IS GOOD, I remind myself.
Be BRAVE.
Be GRATEFUL.
ENJOY your harvest.

Sounds like you have poured into your children and now you can celebrate and enjoy. Praise God for how he grows our children!

    • kimhyland

Thank you, Rachel. Yes, it is time to celebrate! And it's so true, He is the one that grows our children up into all He planned for them. I'm humbled and so grateful to have been a part of His plan for my adult children's lives.

Wow! What an exciting time! But yes, it sounds like a little "brave" is definitely in order!

Blessings over all these wonderful events!

    • kimhyland

Thank you, Vicki. And thank you for acknowledging my need for "brave" and your blessing 🙂

  3. Celeste Vaughan

Wow are you busy! Luckily, my kids aren't quite there yet. I need bravery right now to send my oldest off to college in August. Dreading the moment we leave her there. She'll be great. I'll be a basketcase! As for you…yes. Enjoy your harvest. Love it. Hope to meet you at Allume! (Although it sounds like there will be GOBS of women there…I'm seeing the button everywhere! )

    • kimhyland

I remember that first one leaving too, Celeste. I'd like to tell you it gets easier (and it some ways it does), but there is always another way they stretch our hearts. Blessings on you and your daughter as you enjoy your summer. And I'll look for you at Allume!

How exciting! You are so blessed….and BRAVE!!! Plus hosting us for the Facebook Book Study? BRAVE indeed. The joy of the Lord is your strength, no doubt! Don't forget to ask God to stretch your time. It always amazes me how much I can accomplish when I start that way! He amazes!
    Hugs,
    Kelly

    • kimhyland

Oh yes, Kelly, I AM blessed! And learning to be brave. I think the book study will be as much an encouragement to me as anybody. And I will pray for super-stretching of time 😀

Oh my word, girlfriend. A graduation and back-to-back weddings. I've seen your brave in action! You can DO this, one day, one check-off at a time. And it will be wonderful. This is an abundant harvest.

    • kimhyland

Thank you, Sandra. Your words give me courage. We're always "clipped-in" after all, right?

  6. Denise

    Congrats to your family.

    • kimhyland

Thank you, Denise. And thanks for visiting 🙂

  7. BARBIE

Oh wow, aren't you busy. I married off a daughter last June. I couldn't imagine marrying off two children within weeks of on another, and graduating a son from the Naval Academy. You must be so proud!!! Stopped over from Five Minute Friday. Blessings!

    • kimhyland

I am proud, Barbie. And blessed! Thank you for stopping by!

Wow, you do have a lot of huge stuff going on! I pray that God allows you to keep from becoming preoccupied with the details and that as each event comes, you're able to truly enjoy them and be fully present there!

  11. Ashley @ Draw Near

Yes, harvest is the word. Wow. And bravery, too…that most definitely seems appropriate. And peace — the kind that peace that passes understanding. Bless you as you (ad)venture through these next days. It's been a joy to get to know you a bit, Kim. I pray that you and your family are able to thoroughly enjoy this time.

I know this feeling! Looking at the planner and the lists and thinking… "this is too much!" This spring isn't quite as crazy for me as it seems to be for you, but still.. weaving between work & my responsibilities here, driving 6 hours to the other end of Nebraska for graduations (which includes helping make 150 cupcakes!), coming back for a wedding, preparing for 4 weeks away at camp, time spent with family which takes wisdom and energy… etc etc!
Praying for bravery for you and I!
