Awake

Today I’m joining The Gypsy Mama for . .

“For only five short, bold, beautiful minutes. Unscripted and unedited. We just write without worrying if it’s just right or not.”
Ouch! This was hard, especially the “unedited” part.
She startled me as she walked into the room. The wind had been blowing fiercely. So loud it woke me up. I mentioned to Jeff that it was scary sounding. Laying in bed, trying to catch a few more minutes of sleep. Trying to avoid the revolution of gears in my mind. The days’ tasks, concerns. “No, don’t think. You still have almost an hour till the alarm goes off.” But even the admonition cranked the gears, and it was futile.

There’s something strange about waking up and not being able to go back to sleep even when you’re tired. I succumb and rise and head toward my coffee.

The creaking of the wind and walls was unnerving for awhile. But the wind settled and so did I. That’s when she walked in. The creaking startled me again. I was surprised she was awake so early too. She said she’s often up this early but she get’s “lonely.”

Funny, that’s why I love the early morning. Because it’s lonely.

Is it the racing mind of a mother from the moment she is conscious that drives us? Sometimes it is loudest lying in bed, and it doesn't quiet until we are up in those secret hours before others. Ah, but it is so nice to share. Lovely. And thank you for your visit to my site.

Wow…a delicate, intriguing start to a wonderful story. The 5 minutes can be hard, huh? But oh, the beauty it begins!

I stopped by, via Lisa-Jo's link up. Hello there! Very nice to meet your voice through these words. And may I say, the stirring song that began as I started to read…soul-opening. I adore music and writing. How words can illuminate a life! Thank you for this atmosphere. It is a pleasure. 🙂

I enjoy that time alone too,I get the pleasure of showering alone every morning as I go to work by 5:30. People often ask me if I mind getting up to work so early – I laugh and say it must have been awhile since you've had young kids 🙂
