“I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content. I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.” ~Philippians 4:11-13
how to know
to be brought low
and contentment still abound
to live with plenty
house, cars, and money
yet heart on steady ground
writ from jail
in ages past
Paul’s words to me cry out
a secret claimed
what is its name?
why do I feel such doubt?
contentment’s fleeting
the gift grows old
before the wrapping falls
yet still I chase
evasive rest
as to my life it calls
giving thanks
gratitude
this secret now revealed
here my mind
surrenders strife
here my heart is healed
His gifts are many
plenty or want
so sing, my soul, out LOUD
His glory mine
love . . mercy . . grace
once lost
I have been found
My gratitude is no secret . .

Oh what a writer you are! love your truth words sister dear xo
Such a good verse and good words for me to hear, this morning. But I can't believe you're thankful for a HUGE spider 😉
to be brought low and contentment still abound …
prayer of my heart this morning. i loved reading this…
Enjoyed your poem, and apple cake is one of my favorites! Children who hunger for truth is the best gift of all. :-)Have a blessed week.
Jodi, thank you so much!
Leslie, as long as they don't get too close, I am FASCINATED by fall's spiders and their webs. I love it when one starts spinning near a porch light, so we can watch it. A little weird, I know.
keLi, thanks. Praying with you.
Rachel, you should definitely try the recipe I linked if you like apple cake! And yes, that is the best gift!
Counting along with you … As always a joy to splash in thankfulness all around.
Splashin,
Sara
