just a few of the many
who have entered my life
like a face i keep seeing
in the vast crowd of this place
i know you only by image
a painting or photo
i don’t know your last name or where you live
or what your voice sounds like
my mind fills in the blank spaces
and your pictures add life with color
i can tell that’s your little one
he has your eyes
sometimes when i’m out
i wonder if i might see you
could you live in the town next to mine
or are you halfway ’round the world
but you are my friend
oh, how i’d love to have you all to tea!
wouldn’t that be a wonderful reunion
of friends who have never met
how has my heart been knit to yours?
with thread made of words, golden and strong
your “comments” bringing love
to my heart on a screen
what surprises life brings
who’d have thought i’d find
sisters, friends, and comrades
in my computer
🙂 For me it started out blogging about my dog Skippy and then I found out about Ann and the gratitude community and then Emily graciously invited me to the imperfect prose community and Geek Unorthodox went from being a side note and became my main blog through all the warm comments and prayerful thoughts. Thank-you for your warm thoughts as well Kim!
Thank you, thank you, I love what you wrote. Maybe someday we can have tea together. I live in Pennsylvania.
you are my friend too. and your writing always stirs me. thank you so much, kim. you honor me. xo
Thank you, Kim, for your heartwarming eloquence here. It was like waking up to a little present from you this morning, all wrapped in pretty paper and silk ribbon, bearing a handmade card that read, "From your friend, Kim."
And I feel the same way. What a wondrous thing is this gift of community, through heart-words and images shared electronically. Technology is such a cold, heartless, word. And yet it is birthing these real connections.
And if you're ever in Florida, you'll have to stop by for a cup of English Breakfast : )
Rachel, wow, your intro to the "blog world" sounds just like mine. I found Ann's gratitude community and was then encouraged and invited by Emily to imperfect prose. Aren't they both such wonderful women and writers?!
Jodi, I'm in Virginia, so we're not too far away. I just might take you up on your invite someday!
Thank you, Emily. Your generous love and comments gave me courage to write!
Leslie, I love giving gifts, and I start every morning with English Breakfast! God is using technology, our words, and relationships to build His kingdom! He is WONDERFUL!
Love to all of you!
sweetest kim, i, too, was heartened to wake to these words, this nod to virtual friendship. "thread made of words, golden and strong" is THE perfect descriptor of what happens in the blogging community. i'm honored to be amond the talented ladies listed, and just excited to keep plugging forward and getting to knowyou (and some of the above) better!
and i'm in tx, so it's still too hot for tea at the minute, but i'd love to pull up a chair and some lady grey!!! 🙂
love and hugs
Thanks, Misty. I'm so glad to have "heartened" you . . what a GREAT word! So so you drink Lady Grey cold?
Wishing some fall weather your way,
Kim
oh no. i actually am a "weird" southerner who doesn't care for iced tea!!! and definitely not lady grey. i just love a nice cup of tea–when it's cool enough not to sweat while drinking it!
Oh, Kim!! I just got your note. CRAZY me. Wish I'd seen it back in Sept. You are a gift to me too. Amazing how the fabric of family can stretch over the miles to encircle us. Thank-you, dear friend. I see I need to visit the other blogs you mentioned. {hug} to you.
