Thirty Days of Thanks – Day 3: WWW

I’m most vulnerable when laying down. Falling off to sleep at night and waking through the haze come morning. It’s here that my thoughts bombard and in a second can leave me gasping with anxiety.

And it’s here that giving thanks rescues me.

One by one, the “thank you’s” remind my heart of the good even in the midst of real bad. Of blessings in the middle of pain. Of God’s love and faithfulness over a lifetime.

The wrestling begins and the victor is the same . . in the end.

Every time.

“On my bed I remember You; I think of You through the watches of the night.” ~Psalm 63:6, NIV

“If I’m sleepless at midnight, I spend the hours in grateful reflection.”
~Psalm 63:6, The Message

It's only been 3 days but I am finding myself looking forward to the few quiet moments I spend reading your writings and reflecting on my own life and circumstances. My thankfulness list today comes from unexpected means…1. I am thankful for the encouragement of teachers in my life 30+ years ago. 2. I am thankful for the sight of dirty dishes in the sink (it means we have food when there are those who don't) 3. I am thankful God has entrusted me with caring for my son and husband, even though they seem to be bipolar at times, they are both so loving and make me laugh out loud with their antics. God is so faithful!
